Hellos Jeepzers,

I am a collector of cool/unusual things when possible. I recently was able to get what I believe is a vintage Jeep seat. I was hoping some of you could lend me your expertise if you recognize it.

Thanks Much
Sincerely, Oregonian

Looks cool, wish I could help you but don't know much about that seat. Just thought would say cool.

Yes - Pull The Dot
Thank You
I have seen that same snap on an old leather gun holster as well.

It looks like a rear seat from the 2+2 configuration of an MB from the 40's. I've never seen one actually out of the jeep before though, it's got a pretty slick fold-up system. Doesn't look too comfortable though.

Thanks for your info. Could you tell me what an MB style jeep is?
It does fold up really nice and is suprisingly easy to carry not that heavy for the size.

The MB replaced the MA, which were the first Jeeps built by Willy, Bantam, and Ford in 1941. The MB's came out in '42 by Willys and were a "standard" by which any others would be built (like the Ford GPW, which is also a possible source of that seat).

They were the Jeeps built for WWII, replaced in 1950 by the M38.

Looks like a rear seat to me. Most of the pics of the MB's I have seen have single front seats.

All the old willys seats ive seen which by far are not all, but the ones i have seen don't seem to have wire backs or bottoms. They seem to be all solid.

In high school, I had a shirt that said "pull my finger".

Wore it once, got sent to the office. Had to wear my gym uniform shirt the rest of the day with a promise not to wear it again.

Hhhhmmmmm..

That's an odd one. Have you found anything out?

It doesn't look like a M151 seat, those didn't have the front legs (that I remember)

CJ2 and 3s had 4 feet that the seats sat on (if I remember correctly)

It may be an old military seat??

Or out of something not Jeep, looks military though.

Thanks for all the replies.....I have not been able to find this exact seat on the web YET. As mentioned by TwistedCopper it has that military look for sure...but then I look at those snaps "Pull The Dot" and cant imagine those being on a combat jeep. Still searching..........

I dunno... Considering that claymores (??) have instructions saying something like "this side towards enemy", "pull the dot" may well be within reason... I mean, blasting down a road with people shooting at you, there's really not much time to be wondering how the heck this stupid seat folds down... So I wouldn't rule that out.

Besides that, I have no bloody idea... It sure does look military, and old-school at that...

Well precisely, my point exactly... Not saying "idiot-proof" by any means, but you sure want those kinds of instructions to be crystal clear... At any rate, any luck finding anything about that seat?

A bit like the old George Carlin joke "when opening a box of cookies it says "please open here" well, you're going to eat them here....you almost have to open them here. Thank God it doesn't say "open somewhere else" I'd be up all night looking for a good location"
