i have a 79 CJ7 304, I am in the middle of a rebuild, and would like to know, I have a red and black wire and a green wire, whick goes to positive which goes to negative on the coil. the green wire has a blck wire attached to it with what appears to be a resistor and a 5 amp fuse. where does the other end go.

Red=positive

black=negitive

unless your harness has been spliced and diced,then you'll have to trace every wire to see where each one goes[addsig]

Usually the green wire is the neg. side of the coil and is the trigger wire for the coil. The red goes to the positive side sometimes, but after hooking it up, check to see that there is only about 6 volts there with the key on. The wire connected to the green wire is usually the tach. wire. But as they say, to assume is to make an as* of u and me. If you have a wire with 6 volts with the key on, it´s pretty safe to assume it´s the pos. coil wire (on an electronic ignition system). There should be 12-14 volts to the coil plus terminal with the engine cranking.[addsig]
