What to do without parking brake

So I have a manual transmission, and since i did the axle swap, my parking brake doesn't so squat, but apparently that was to be expected. Anyways! My question is, is leaving it in gear when parked, even on a pretty steep hill, good enough? Any other suggestions?

Sometimes it's not enough on a really steep hill, as the weight of the jeep will actually cause the engine to turn over and the jeep to roll. I've found that having it in 4lo will help minimize this.

Do you think having the wheel turned, and them letting it roll against the curb would hold with it in gear?

I'd use a block. At one time I drove a heavy delivery type truck and the engine would turn with the brake while in gear. The motion was like a pumping. I watched the shift lever move. From then I used a block and fixed the brake.

why no parking brake?

if you have the stock rear 8.8 explorer calipers, you will need a new jeep adjuster, and some 95-98 ZJ rear Park Brake cable.

Hey y not use a line lock. I know lots of jeepers that use them I want to instaLl one in my jeep but I haven't yet aka a break lock.

Let me yarn a lil story. Mind you this wasn't a Jeep, but years ago (back in the early '80's) I had a '72 240z.

This things' parking brake was out of adjustment too. I was doing laundry up at my folk's place 'cause in my first apartment there were no laundry facilities. Anyway the folk's driveway at the top had a slight grade to it, but the other half nearest the street was rather steep, about a 30 yd span overall as I recall.
So it was, I always left the 240z in gear as I knew the parking brake had an issue (that I should've gotten fixed). I had just unloaded the last basket of laundy out of the hatchback and was heading to the washer in the gagage when I heard a muffled "clunk". I turned to see my 240z rolling down the driveway. Running to try to dive in the back to do what I could, I missed but my sleeve got caught as it dragged me across the street. Hopping the curb at a good amount of speed my 240 smashed into my neighbors' house. Fortunately the damage was minimal as the nose of the 240z crumpled up so short as to make this look like a Triumph.
Sheepishly knocking on the door my neighbor came out and looked at the scene. He mentioned he was a day sleeper that worked graveyard shift and he thought the "bang crunch" sound he heard was just a dream. Things worked out okay as he was going to be replacing the siding of his house soon anyway, and the body shop did an excellent job of repairing the body and frame of the 240z. Since then if my rig has any safety issues I park it until I fix it, or have it fixed.

I got new parking brake cables with the axle. And what do you mean jeep adjuster?

I have line locks for front and rear. Work great.

Which one did you get? And I assume you'd recommend it? And I do have an e brake. It's just really weak.

yes the line adjuster drivers side frame rail, right about under the drivers seat, maybe a little farther back, you can only get it from Jeep.

I typed jeep because your axle is from a ford, I didn't want you to think it was a ford part.

yup, replace it, you can see that you already are out of thread length on the adjuster rod.

When I did mine, the dealership was the only place I found it, not to say you might find it somewhere else. it was not expensive either.

When I pull up on the parking brake it's pretty solid, if I kept adjusting it wouldn't it just start dragging when I was driving?
