What Did You Break Today.....

transmission lines on the XJ; slipped off the jack as I was raising it to put onto stands, jack "saddle" slid off behind the front diff and smacked into them smashing them somewhat; I guess I go to the parts store cut that section out and re splice with compression fitings.

Ask me that in 7 days...heading down to Moab.

Well 97 TJ in our group has a cracked head in his 4 banger...this just killed the Moab trip like last weeks road kill. So its looking like Memorial day weekend is going to be spent in the garage working on a jeep.

Sheared the dana 35s pinion gear off within the housing. After replacing the axles with a 14bolt in the rear and d60 up front I cracked the 231 TC about 3/4 the way around it by about a 1/4" while on the trail. Had enough transmission fluid to start limping home when the rear drive shaft and proceeded to break and start beating the crap out of everything it could reach under the Jeep. Driving home in 4high with a locked front on a curvy road sucks. Two and a half years later it is almost fixed.

I know how you feel about the drive shaft snapping and having to drive home in 4 high the bad thing was is that i was 30 miles away from home and having to drive 20 mph so that i could keep the broken shaft in the cloths hanger i tied it up with. I'm always questioning my self why i do this stuff then i realize its a jeep thing =]

Last year was struggling with an AMC 20 rear end. Ever see bearings do a conga line?

Broke the fuel pump on my skidsteer (circa mid 60's) Wisconsin engine. It is sitting in my back yard now trying to rig up a gravity feed to the carb so I can get it iinto my shop. Parts are really hard to find for this thing.
