Vacum Hose in Harness Mystery 98 Cherokee

My heater controls dont work its seems to be stuck on defrost. I did have a small engine compartment fire but most of what you see in the pics is just superficial damage. I am trying to trace all the vacum hoses and I came across this hose that goes into the wiring harness then down to the firewall. There is no vacum in this line but I cant find the other end of the line once it goes inside the harness, and of course my Cliltons dosnt show it. so the vacum line goes into the harness but where dose it come out and what does it connect to.

There should be a Vac. line from the A/C, Heater control on the dash that goes out to the engine vac. thru the firewall.

Yes I beleive that picture #2 shows that, then the vac line in picture #2 comes up and enters the wiring harness in picture #1, from there I cant see where the vac line comes out of the harnesss :???:

Ok, from the intake manifold, there should be a check valve where the vac. line is attached to. this vac. line runs along the upper firewall. there should be a T- connector going to the line that goes thru the firewall and inside the cab.. The vac. line then continues from the T connector around the passenger fender well to another T-connector to the Cruise control servo. The line from the T-connector continues all the way to the passenger front bumper beam wher the Vacuum reservoir is located.

Ok, It seems that all those vac lines are intact and working.

there should be a T- connector going to the line that goes thru the firewall and inside the cab..
would the vac line coming out of this T turn into a smaller vac line lets say 1/8 ID.

Of course its late tonight so I can copy and paste your info into a word pad and print a copy and check it out tomorrow.

Yes, the line from the main vac. harness T- connetor going thru the firewall is a small vac.line..

It just occured to me that the pic on the right side is not a vac. line. That's the hose for the windshiel washer nozzle that connects to a splice located by the main wiring harness on the upper firewall. It's routed to the windshiel washer bottle pump on the driver side fender well.

Thanks SteelHeadz
I looked closer at the 1/8 ID vac line coming from the T and into the firewall, apparently the flame caught about 3/4" of the line and melted it from underneath, I cut the 3/4" out while holding the vac line that went into the firewall with a pair of surgical claps. Then I made a connector out of tygon fuel line about 3/8" long and connected the line back together making sure that the lines butted up against each other. I tested the heater a/c controls and all is well again. This is the second or third time I have brought my cherokee out of the Abyss ! It must be a Cat so it must have several lives still . Thanks for solving the mystery line to :shades:
