Hello guys, Anyone ready for stupid all electric question?

...on a toy?

Okay I my sister found my electric scooter from when I was 12 in the garage while she was visiting our house right, and it doest work.

I want to make it go faster and work again so I can have fun with it again.

One of two things could be wrong with it,

A, the controller is fried from charging for 5 years

b, the batteries are too old.

I know that if i increase the torque then I can get it to climb steeper hills so that makes me want to replace the batteries with larger ones, and if the controller is fried then I want to just cut it out, wire the batteries without it because it would be to expensive to replace that.

on youtube they got one to go 28mph but wont say how and I can't figure out how to increase the speed.

will 36volt batteries increse my torque or speed?

I think it is currently running 24volts to the motor.

the scooter could climb pretty well before, and it went to 15 mph but now I get nothing, not even a sputter.

a lot of people connect either 2 batteries to get 36 volts, or three of what it is currently running to get 36. they say you can't go much hire without frying the controller.

if I took the controller out and hooked up a car battery would that endanger my motor?

I cant do gasoline becouse my neiborhood has rules. Lame right,

I want to go fast on this bad boy, push 30 maybe?

Increasing voltage will make it go faster, but not sure for how long.

The best way to gain speed is change the gearing or put a bigger motor in it.

Now as far as it not working at all.Start by checking you batteries.Put a meter on it and see what the voltage is with nothing connected to them.If they read good connect the scooter to them and turn it on and see if the voltage drops to when under load.If the voltage does not drop I would start checking the controller.Meter if power is getting to the controller first,if it is then meter if any power comes out of the controller.

you may want to experiment with gear ratios as well.

we had one of those scooters. it was a blast. we have a pocket rocket motorcycle now. i charge it with a car charger and redid the wires. its fun but still only does whatever the stock speed is. its enough to slide out on the dirt though and for the kids to run into cars and fly off.

Just kidding its to big but what about brushless motors, I have heard a lot of good feed back on thos?

You should get a golf cart, they are easy to upgrade and make faster. Just put more air in the tires or get larger tires.

When I worked for club car, we did all kinds of things to golf carts just because people wanted it done. It was fun too, like working at a 4x4 shop

Thats sounds fun, but I would want a friend to work on it with. I am only looking to spend like 100 bucks total though

Any one wanna buy a tottaly sick electric scooter? 100 bucks! :D
