Trouble steering

Can you describe your situation better? Is it just hard to turn the wheel? If that is the case, do you have power steering? Are we talking about at a stand still or while moving? Or does it wander while driving? Does it tend automaticlly turn after hitting a pot-hole (Bump Steer)?

Can talk some photo's of the steering linkage and knuckles?

It is tough to Steer both when stopped and moving. Just got it and finally got all the registration and plates for it and have not had a chance to get it out and really give it a good test yet. Was trying to see if it need power steering fluid but couldn't find the pump. Guy I bought it from said it needed power steering fluid but starting to think he didn't know what he was talking about. . Thinking it may be manual and needs oil added to the manual steering gears.

It not likely you are low on power steering fluid causing a problem........... But if you have power steering, unsder the hood you should see something like this:

The red cap and reseivor is the power steering pump (yours will likely be black) and you should see some hoses leading to the steering gear which is under the front bumper. If you have these parts, start small and work towards the larger (more expensive). First, is the drive belt still connected to the pump? Is thier fuild in the reseivor? (however, it would be wining really load if it were that low).

If you have manual steering, they are just hard to turn, especially with larger ties.

I knew I had a front photo somewhere, see in the upper right hand corner of this photo that box with a big round cap looking straight at you? That is a power steering gear box.

Great. Thanks for the pics. I will look to see whether it is there or not. I will let it know what I find out. Thanks again for the info.

Ok.........Cool! But keep am eye on things. Something caused it to run low to begin with.

Will do. Thanks again for your help and I am sure I will be asking you more questions in the future as I move further along with the project. It seems like a bit of a Frankenstein job the more I get into it. I think next up is going to be trying to tackle the wiring. The guy before me put in an aftermarket radio, speakers, fuel gauge and thermometer and it seems to be all over the place. I will definitely contact you if I have more questions. Thanks again for the help
