trasnfer case shifter not moving

2003 liberty... disconnected cable from the transfer case. case moves. shifter and cable does not. Need new shifter? or is it rebuild able? Its locked up tight, at least my friend does'nt have to buy a transfer case

I don't know if a 2002 is interchangeable with an 03, but I did find this on ebay:

try greasing the fittings on the linkage if its not already too late
if you pull the shifter take it apart clean it up and grease the hell out of it
I found the fittings by accident when greasing the U joints after greasing it moves better than it did when I bought it new

Disconnect the cable from the lever and see which one it is causing the issue.

If the cable is jammed, you may want to try something like this.

I figured out by accident it works well for parking brake cables, likely to be handy for other cables also.

Most motorcycle shops carry it.
