So I am running a Buick dauntless V6 a turbo 400 and a Dana 20 transfer case in a 59 Willys CJ3b.. I would like to hear what you guys have to say about a transfer case upgrade. I would rather replace it than crack it open. Thanks guys.

found an adapter or two for putting a dana 300 in yours. a gm np241 32 spline should work as well.

quadratec has a kit for 700 bucks to make that dana 300 4:1. np241's i believe are 4:1

"In 1988, GM began using the NP241 transfer cases. Most of these units will be right hand drop, but Chevy also used a few left hand drop applications. The Chevy NP241 is supplied with a 27 spline female input or a 32 spline female input. With a T350, 4L60E or 700R4 transmission, it will be 27 spline. With a T400 or 4L80E trans or 5 speed, it will be 32 spline. "

I would say that your best two choices would either be to rebuild the Dana 20 with a Teralow 3:1 kit or adapt a Dana 300 to it.
I would go the Dana 300 route just because there are a lot of other options for later upgrades as well. You can add twin sticks or the 32 spline Big Shaft outputs if you have a lead foot. There's also the Lo Max 4:1 kit and even a disk parking brake available.
Lots of good info on the Novak site listed above.
