Took the cj7 out for a drive.

But theres something else going on. Theres a loud squeling noise coming from the engine each time I turn the engine. It gets longer and longer. What could be happing?

As long as you've got oil pressure it's probably not major. Like mentioned above, belts. If it comes and goes as you push in the clutch it'd be the throw out bearing (if it's a strait shift). Could be something like an alt bearing going bad.

No belts in the transfer case. Can you give a better discription. Like does it happen when you press the clutch? Does it do it all the time?

No my bad. It was the fan belt. I sprayed some wd 40 on it and it stopped for a while. But I just replaced it not to long ago though. Is it possible that I over tightened it?

I wouldn't spray the belt with wd-40. Since its a new belt it may have just seated itself and needs to be retightened. You should have about a half inch of up and down movement in the belt. Also if the battery is weak, the alternator may be struggling to keep up, causing the belt to squeal.

you usually have to retighten belts a week or two after installing a brand new one. i have to do mine too

A lot of dif cars had dif ways of tightening belts. usually there is a arm with a slot in it, (that is where the tension is made) that the alt is bolted to. You have to look on the side or under the alt, there will be another nut and bolt somewhere on it, loosen that and the bolt on the arm with the slot. Use a bar of some type to wedge under the alt and pull to put tension on it and tighten the bolts back up while holding tension on the belts. That should be about it.

yes, tighten the same way you tightened when you put it on

O for some reason my fog lights wont come on. I rewired them to the headlights so only one switch could be used. They were working for a while. While it was parked but ever since I started driving it they stopped working
