TJ Power Steering box leaking....

Oil in the distributor

My 1997 TJ is leaking (pretty large volume) fluid from around the steering gearbox (not the pump). This is the first Jeep I've owned with power steering so I'm going to troubleshoot this for the first time. I'd like to know if leaks of this type are common and if there is a seal kit that I can install. To be honest, I can't tell precisely where it is leaking from. Any insight to the system and potential problems would be greatly appreciated. ferg

Check the hoses and make sure they are tight and have no leaks. Then check the seal around the steering shaft.

i've seen the steering shaft seal pop out on TJs...
