TJ lift/lockers question

OK, I probably sound like a moron but when I purchased my 1998 TJ used, seller said it has a 3" lift. How do I know if it is a body lift or something else. I would like to lift it more but not sure what route to take especially since I dont even know what I have so far...

I see lockers advertised. They say Dana and then a number. How do I know what kind I need for my jeep???

Thanks in advance for answering my stupid questions so I can move forward toward getting my Jeep the way I want it.

From one moron to another...............

You should be able to tell if it's a body lift - especially a 3" body lift.....pretty severe - by looking underneath at places where the body meets the frame. If it's a 3" body lift, there'll be some serious looking "hockey pucks" between the frame and the body tub. As far as the Dana reference and the lockers, they're probably refering to the type of axles you have.........most likely a Dana 35 rear and Dana 30 front if it's stock. Some came stock with a Dana 44 in the rear.......others on here can educate you better on that. That's pretty much the extent of my limited knowledge. Like I said, I'm just another moron - learning as I go.

As to knowing what axle you have just follow this link and compare your axles to it.

P.S. this user makes no claims that he is or is not a moron...but if you want to know the truth just ask his wife.

Easy place to tell if you have a body lift is on the rear of the jeep.Right above the bumper there should be a small rubber hockey puck looking spacer.High thick is that spacer will tell you if you have a body lift.Factory there should be a rubber one that is around 1".Anything larger you have a body lift.

It could be that you have a 2"suspension with a 1" body.

Thanks for the input. I will check it out. Appreciate the help
