TJ Exhaust

Hey Everyone, I heard this loud rattle in my exhaust. I narrowed it down to the catalytic converter or muffler. I have also noticed that I don't have nearly the power that my jeep normally has. Can this rattle and loss of power be related.(I have no idea about exhaust systems) I have just removed the transfer case/transmission crossmember plate so I could get to the muffler easily. I figure since I am there I will replace the entire exhaust system, any suggestions? thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

if you're in an area where you can get away with it... gut the cat conv... then get a good catback system if you are planning on replacing all of it... i hear many good things about flowmaster, but then, some say it's played out and overrated... i like them, but i prefer the custom method

That sounds like a good idea. I'm in louisiana and I can get away with gutting the cat. How do I do it? there is a sensor(oxygen, i guess) on the cat. will this be a problem? this is a 98 tj 4.0. thanks

i forgot about the obd2 crap.... i'll keep looking, i know there is a cap you can buy to put over your o2 sensor to tell the ecu that you are getting a good reading
