I own a 95 YJ 100 % stock. What is the biggest tire size I can install using the stock wheels and without using a lift to gain clearence?

Thanks in advance

When I used my 1989 Jeep Wrangler for beach cruising, (It was a phase, years ago, I'm over it now)

I played with tires and found the largest I could run stock with no lift and no rubbing was a 245/70R15 on factory mags.

My friends Yj is stock and has bfg allterrain tires, size 31's. The only problem is they rub on the fenders when a 200 pound guy sits in the back of the jeep. And when your offroading the tires rub tremendously. I do not recomend 31's without a 4" lift kit.[addsig]

The 235/75 R 15 (about 29")(on stock rims) wouldn´t rub the fenders, but would rub the springs on the inside a little in sharp turns. My springs are a little tired, maybe 30/31´s would fit with fresh springs.[addsig]

I would say 30's, my friend put 31's on his and they were a tight squeeze. If money is a concern right now, you could always pick up a set of shackles from any auto parts store, throw them in and gain 2-3" very easily and cheaply- boom, 31's fit easily and POSSIBLY 32's, as long as you take it easy on them. I ran with a 3" shackle lift with 32x11.5's for a couple months but wouldn't really recommend it. The shackles were huge and it made the Jeep feel like it was on stilts. But to answer your direct question, 30's easily, maybe 31's if your springs are still tight. But if it were me, I would spend the $30 and get the shackles for 2" and then be sure you can run 31's. Since I know buying tires that are bigger than a soccer mom's van are usually pretty expensive, I would buy the 31's and be happy for a little longer....

If you are ever feeling down, just hop in your Jeep. There, you should feel better in no time...-[addsig]
