Had to drive four hours to get it though.

It's a 2007 totally base model, sold as a Texas off road edition. 68k miles, auto trans, roller windows, manual locks, as powerless as you can get. I love it!! Rode like a Cadillac on the highway and has power to pass like a sports car. This engine is nothing like I thought it would be.

Do all these have 4.10 gears stock? And the electronic locker in the back? The build sheet said that's what it's got. I hope so since its 2x4

SuperJ, what is done with these types of "Jeep' as I do not understand very well on these later rigs.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Congrats and enjoy. In 07 4.10 and E lockers where a option. And 4.10 where only on the Rubi in 2008 till 2011. Now as far as I know Rear E lockers where available till 2010.

Cool. I know I test drove a 2011 and it felt like a dog in town even though it was stock. Accelerated like someone walking and didn't feel like it could pass anything on the highway. I am so glad this one has better gearing then that one.

Robert; this is just an on road jeep for Cristina. She likes the look and four doors but she never leaves the pavement. I know she wanted 4x4 but after seeing this one, she liked it enough to realize how little she used 4x4. Her previous 93 wrangler didn't even engage the front axle for the first year she owned it and her lifted rough and tough liberty didn't have the front driveshaft in it and she never even knew. She doesn't want to lift it and she doesn't want larger tires so this meets all her requirements for a wrangler.

I am glad though it's got that e-locker because I occasionally need more grip with her vehicle because I am pulling someone out of a ditch or am off road in a spot where one wheel drive doesn't cut it though. Her liberty had a rear locker too and I took it down a little trail along the rip frio river that I thought would be safe enough for no 4x4 and it ended up being wetter on the trail then I expected so that locker got me out, ha ha ha

Most of my wheeling I do in 2hi...Most of the time I put it in 4lo just to make it easier off road with the clutch.Wish it had an option for 2lo.

Living in Minnesota, I didn't know Jeep made a 2wd version.

SuperJ,

Thanks for the explanation as I understand better. I'm so retro with VEX, a Jeep is a Jeep and so have little clue on the new 2x4s, 4 seaters, long long bodies, the width, its so out of my league, I don't get it......haha.

And did we know: Jeeps were built and designed as they were up to the CJ7, as that is the width of two horses, side by side, since 99% of the so called trails of the Earth are originally horse trails for a team of horses.......

We do not see JKs overseas....

Oh well, thank you though,

Robert

Hahahahaha that rocks! Since you guys never get snow, a 4x2 Jeep makes sense. The fact she still wanted a Jeep is an added bonus. Good find!

i always wondered why jeeps were so much thinner then other vehicles, i always thought it was to fit through the trees in the wooded areas. thats interesting information about the horse team width.

the people around here get in wrecks when it rains, ha ha ha, i couldn;t imagine them having to drive in snow.

cristina said she really really likes this jeep. i have been on the look out for a hard top, for the cold weather times, but she said she doesn;t want a hard top and that she likes the soft top because you can flip the top open so easily. she said she loves hte roller windows and everything about the jeep. i am glad, maybe we will be able to keep a vehicle longer then two years for her.

I wonder if she'll get significantly better gas mileage without the 4x4 stuff.

I can not find any thing on Jeep website about a 4x2 Wrangler.
Looking at the MPG for GC there is not much difference in MPG

  • Laredo, Laredo X

  • Fuel Economy (MPG)
Max Highway Driving Range:566 miles17 city / 23 hwy – 4x2
Max Highway Driving Range:566 miles16 city / 23 hwy – 4x4
Fuel Tank Capacity (gal)24.6

Our two wheel drive Cherokee got the same gas mileage as our 4x4 grand Cherokee and other then model differences and 2 versus 4 wheel drive, they were alike.

It's still a solid front axle. Just add a t-case, driveshaft, and proper front axle, they are alike

The lower rear axle gearing will likely offset any mileage gain from being 2wd.

The JK is the first model Wrangler with a 2wd option. Glad it works for you, a very capable vehicle with a rear limited slip or selectable locker.
