I recently had a 3.5 Rancho lift installed. the suspension is really stiff. Can anyone tell me what a stiff suspension is made for. i don't see it used for rock climbing, or straight off roading. it seems like a sport suspension on a off road vehicle. is anyone elses suspension really really really rough:?:

what kindof jeep, it will most likely settle some, and soften of some too

Slow to Start (Starter???)

From all I have heard the Rancho lift is just a very stiff lift by nature. Hate to bust your bubble on that one and have no personal knowledge of this lift. tug

Well I once own a scout II...and did an SOA with a 4 inch Rancho lift. I took a few months but the scout settled an inch like the manufactor said it would but they remained just as stiff. Even after 4 years of punishment with a rookie 4x4 pilot behind the wheel. I ended up having to double up on all my shocks to smooth out the ride some ( ya a scout and a smooth ride. hehe). I hope this gives you some help.

My 2.5'' rancho lift is stiff, stiff, stiff. No viagra for it! I am not sure if investing in a really good shock will help either. The only thing that makes it 'ok' is its a jeep AND i like the fact that when i have woman in the jeep in the summer in bathing suits, well you get the picture.

Try to flex the suspension often when offroad, with the swaybar and rear trackbar disconnected. This will eventually break in the springs and they will gradually move better. If the ride is harsh, try new shocks, something other than Rancho, unless they are 9000's.

Stay away from ProComp leaf springs, they are stiffer than Rancho

Investing in to some good shocks will help believe it or not.
I bought 8 used Pro-comp race series shocks from a friend and rebuilt them and it only ran me 300$. The higher end shocks limit the quick movment from the suspension and smooth out the ride At the time the pro-comps were the first to have multi staged dampeners in both directions thus makiing the old girl run like a caddie. I did loose the smooth ride when I put 44's on her but that is another story.

With 4 inch lift on my current ride I went to better shocks and dont feel the road through my suspension, but I am older and dont want the ole pace maker shake... I prefer mine stired..lol
