Steering column

The tilt column that AMC used was GM (or so I've been told). I was Just starting to look around in the Junkyards for something to adapt into my Jeep when a factory tilt CJ column fell into my lap. I know if you look at the 70's GM stuff it looks alot like what the factory CJ column is.

When I was shopping for a column I found a rebuilder on EBay (buyer beware) it took two tries until I got a serviceable GM column, but I did find the shortest available that incorporated tilt.

If you go to a junkyard, look for an older model GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck that has a round cast aluminum column case. There are two versions, Auto or manual. The only difference is the PRNDL indicator on top.. The lenght of the lower shaft also varies however, you can swap the one off your old column to the replacement one if needed.
