spring removal

I have finally started to replace the rear springs on my 90 Cherokee. I cannot get the bolt at the front of the spring to break loose. I can't get to the threads because they are inside the frame. I have used a breaker bar and an impact wrench without success. Does anyone know any tips to get this bolt out?

Hi,

I know what you mean about the Leaf SPring eye bolts being VERY hard to remove! When I installed my lift kit, I ended using about 2 cans of PB Blaster (found at any auto parts store). A combo of PB Blaster, the use of a breaker bar, and my impact wrench finally broke them loose. You'll need to spray the areas all around the bolts and let it sit for awhile so the PB Blaster can work better. :mrgreen:

get a bigger breaker bar....or maybe get some bigger muscles :lol:

put some heat on it if all else fails... that usually helps
