Hey guys, i am looking to get a soft top for my 03 wrangler. i only have the hard top and was wondering if i have to do anything to the jeep besides just putting the top on ie. drilling or anything to make it soft top compatible? i found one on craigslist, $150 for all hardware and everything. Does anyone know what years will fit the 03? like if its from an 02 wrangler will it fit my 03? idk what year it is from yet. also, incase that doesn't work out, where can you get soft top hardware, i have found the actual tops everywhere but none include the hardware? Any help is very much appreciated. thanks.
 
I think the hardware they are speaking of is the 4 (2 per side) pieces that secure the top to the roll bar. When I sold my top I took those off and sold them with it. I would think any seller on CL or Ebay would/should do the same thing if they aren't planning to use a soft top anymore.
 

And if you need a header for the soft top let me know. i think i have like 3 or 4 of e'm .
 
thanks for the help guys. the top is from a 98. on that link itchee sent, did you notice how all of the tops said 97-02? thats why im not sure if it will be ok. He also said it includes everything. he bought a hard top and said he doesn't want to have a soft top anymore. i just realized though he said he has the half doors with the soft uppers. I have the full hard doors. is there going to be any problem with the difference? also, i remember there being like a gasket type thing (dont know what it is called) where the full door closes into. do you think that would be included and if not, where could i find one? thanks again, you guys are the best.
 

The Header is what attaches the soft top to the windshield frame with latches.as far as the interchange is concerned,all bets are off. Chrysler list is 97-2000 only. then 01- 05 and later tj bodys. i've attached a hardware diagram with the hardware in question for the doors has an arrow pointed to it.

The header is the one thing that you may have to drill to install. I haven't taken one off a TJ, but I think they are screwed onto the windshield frame.
 
The header is actually part of the soft top on the TJ's. If you ever run a bikini or safari top, you need to buy the header for the top.
 

If I remember correctly they changed the front windshield a little from 02 to 03. That's why all the soft tops list 97-02. I know the hard tops won't switch out but I don't know if the soft tops will.
 
thanks for all the help. I talked to two different people from jeep dealers and both of them didnt sound very sure. One guy didn't sound like he knew very much about jeeps as when i told him i had an 03, he asked 2 dr or 4 dr. Right there, i kind of diregarded him. the other guy said "it should" i dont really wanna blow $150 on something "should" fit, you know? What do u all think, keep looking or try it? So, mikey, you have 2 headers for me? if i do get it and they dont come with them, i would be extremely interested. thanks again guys
 
i really don't know which kind. i know the soft tops arent that expensive but the hardware is what is the killer. maybe you have found hardware too? thanks
 

Yes I have at least 2 Headers in my shop. just let me know when you need it. you will only need one. i will take measurements of its dimensions and we can move on from there.
 
Sorry i just now got back. had some Hunters from louisianna that wanted a 3 day hunt. if it was me in your shoe i would consider it if its an OEM top. Granted the condition is really good.
