sensory key indicator light

For the past four months my sensory key indicator light has been on. I drive a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0. It cranks up everyday and seems to run fine other than the dinging sound, gauges stop and then start working again, and it also sounds like it checks my windows and doors electrical system. I replaced the battery and it was fine for awhile do to resetting the computer but then it came back on. I was told that if it the key wasn't any good it would only crank up and then stall 3 times before it would no longer crank up.....How do i fix this and get my old jeep back to its self?

The flashing red key indicator indicates a problem with the SKIM system(Sentry Key Immobilizer Module). The possibilities are: Intermittent signal from transponder, intermittent signal from the module. There is a possibility that the intermittent inop. gauges is relevant to the symptom of the flashing SKIM lamp. My advise is to either scan it to see if there is any recorded DTC's and or check the connections on the back of the instrument cluster.

Not sure about this but I know I used to have a t-bird with all electric gauges, one day they started failing Intermittently, sometimes they would work then they would go off for awhile, come to find out it was a loose connection behind the instrument cluster. Like Steelheadz said, i'd definitely check that before spending any money to replace anything. Anyway, goodluck, just thought i'd throw my 2 cents in lol.

Cool, thank you so much. I will definitely try to find a loose connection first. I'll let ya'll know if it works or not. Come to think about it it never started happening till the first actual cold day we had here. Im sure that with my subs could have cause a loose connection.
