Running a half marathon tomorrow.

If the weather is nice enough I'm going to run my first half marathon tomorrow. I've done a few 5Ks in the past, but nothing this long.

Anyone else here a runner?

I ran my whole life until a knee injury playing basketball last year. Keep your form up and stick to your pace.

I had to move to cycling which is nice. Not hard on the body and see a lot more stuff since you go a lot farther distances. I try and do 25 miles a day but have done 50 and 70 miles.

As a runner, the most I have done was 10 to 15 miles when I was in high school. I always did the long events in track and ran cross country. And in the army, I loved the long run days. I love running

superj, what was your knee injury? I had an ACL replacement and running has really helped it heal and become pain-free. Running Tough Mudder's #3 and #4 this year :-)

Good luck Terry!!.. That's awesome Bounty_Hunter!! My Brother has been active like you have. He's rolled over and slamed on his head, fallen on his shoulder and still keeps on going. I've had a knee injury several years back during sparring (Tu Kong) . The socket on my left knee shattered and the small pieces of bones went in between the socket and grounded in the cartiledge. It took me a little while before i finally went to go see the doctor and had surgery. They ended up rebuilding my knee and socket and installed a titanium wire across from my thigh down to my lower leg with screws and plates. It was a hard recovery process during physical therapy but now i'm convinced that it's better than it ever was. I weigh around 160lbs and can leg press 480lbs. 2 sets of ten and 1 set of 20. I did however find out that long strides on a run is not as it use to but i can still do a short marathon. :)

Hope it went well for you Terry. My Wife is running her second half marathon in the past month today. Just like some others, I don't run due to an old knee injury.

I used to run a ****load, at least 4 miles every time, 3 times a day. Up until I wrecked my Harley which really put me out of commission for a while. I ran marathons every once And a while. Good luck terry :)

The half marathon went better than I expected. I finished in 2 hours 20 minutes, which beat my expectations (heck, I just wanted to finish). I love how most of these races have live bands, food and beer at the finish line :p

They gave out these PowerBar energy gels during the race that tasted like like butt, but worked great. They had caffeine in them, and seemed to really give me a good boost. I may have to pick some of them up in the future.

something happened to my miniscus and if i run, i cannot walk or support weight on my right knee. the doc said they don;t see anything in the mri or xrays so it should be ok but its not.
