Rubbing Wheel

I bought a used 2000 TJ a few weeks ago. It was completely stock when I got it. THe first thing I did was install a 4.5" Rubicon Express Super Flex lift and 33x12.5xR15 BFG All Terrain KOs. I used the Jeep wheels (trying to save some $$) because they do not kook too bad. The Jeep had the factory wheel/tire upgrade on it (alloy wheels on 30x9.5xR15). When I turn the wheels all the way to the Left or right I get rubbing. The back wheels also rubbed the springs. I installed 5/16" wheel spacers on all four tire and it helped the back wheels but not the front. I am guessing the factory wheels have too much back spacing. Has anyone else had this problem?

It's common, as the new tires are much wider and rub the lower control arms in the front. Correct fix is to get wheels with the correct backspacing, less than what you have now. Another fix, if you want to keep the stock wheels, is to adjust the front steering stops to prevent the rubbing. This will reduce your turning radius slightly.

To adjust the steering stops, find the bolt threaded into the back of the knuckle, beneath the brake caliper, should have a nut welded to it. Back the bolt out without breaking the weld and put a washer on the bolt, then reinstall. Use however many washers are necessary.

Make sure your front axle is correctly centered, done by making sure the track bar and bracket locate the axle correctly. If it's centered, it will rub the same amount when turning to full-lock left and right.
