Ride quality on suspension lift

I'm getting ready to buy a lift for my '92 YJ. I want to improve the ride from the worn out stock springs. I've been looking at all the major brands, and was wondering what any of you folks could tell me about BDS, R.E., Black Diamond (Warn), or any others. I'm looking to get a 3.5-4" kit and run 32" BFG's. I DO NOT want to get into a S.Y.E. kit or drive shaft mod (at least not yet). My main concern is to get a better ride, good clearance, and not have my drivetrain shaking because I got too carried away. Looking to spend around $600-700. Any thoughts?

The RE is a great mod I love mine I have a 4.5" lift with 1.5" shackle ...Works great for me ....Welcome to board and nice name TwistedCopper....:) :P :D

Yes but I didn't need it ...I ran with it for about 1yr without it and a buddy gave it to me ...but I can't tell any difference in it...

There is nothen in the world that makes a ol jeep ride better than them o; stock worn out neg arched flat line springs when you are talking yj's. Man my ol Jeezabell rode like a lux car prior to the lift now she drug her belly over everything coming and going but she road sweet. To retain that soft ride you would want to go SOA. But then you you run into the troubles you mentioned.

I went with the Rough Country 3" lift and could stick 32"s under there no problem but oped for the 31"s and am very happy with all I got out of it so far. She use to skip the cd player on most bumps not she skips very little.

The best price for a kit that I was able to find anywhere was at http://www.followmyrutz.com/catalog/default.php for a YJ lift and the fact is most all of the kits on the market are running springs made by the same company. Not maken em there selfs just buying em and packageing them for resale with there name on em.

That is what I did and I live my set up. It may not work for everyone but for me it is just right! tug

A friend of mine has an Old Man Emu and that thing rides smoooooth. The only problem is it only comes in a 2 1/2" and I want to get a bigger lift than that.

Spacer Lift?

jhiggins, do you know if the RE standard 4" kit is any good?

Weber Carb Help - Runs Too Rich

I have run both Rough country and BDS in my TJ. I like the BDS better. The ride quality is alot better. The springs are also warrentied for life, if it sags or breaks I don't have to buy another...

Just my opinion

Yup yup..I second that...the ride in my TJ with the BDS is top notch..I have the three inch (although it's more like 4) and she handles great. You could also ask Tug, as he has driven the Pit both on and off road.
As far as the warrenty, you can't beat new springs if the old ones sag...no ? asked.

Rob 8) :P :)

i have a 2 in BDS and 1.5in shakles, running 31 GYR wranglers, my buddy has a stock 89yj and he says mine rides better than his. sucker!!!

hey darrin where's my stickers??????? ray in CT

Thanks for all the input. I think I probably will go with the BDS 3.5" kit, I found a website selling it for $635 including shocks AND SHIPPING! Much cheaper than Rubicon Express (but I still will need disconnects and a pitman arm). anybody interested in that site, it is : http://www.ok4wd.com
