resetting tire bead w/ hairspray

BZZZZZZ!!! Wrong. If it were sucking it would create a vacuum and compress the tire. It is the rapid expansion of hot gases, explosion if you will, that inflates the tire quickly and forces it up on the bead.
Good thread though. I expect to hear from a lot of burned up people on Monday.

Wrong!! I'm talking about pulling the tire onto a wheel (after it has either been removed completely, or has had one side pulled off the wheel in some way), Not simply setting the bead. Resetting the bead is easy...just use water. There's no need for hairspray or anything fancy like that.

I know I should have been more clear in what I was talking about. When I said it sucks it onto the wheel, I thought that would make what I was talking about more clear.

I've reset tractor tires with ether. It is the explosion you are looking for. when you have a 5" gap between the tire and the rim and a 5 ton tractor sitting on it, well there is no way to muscle it any closer. It is daNGEROUS, stand away from the opening, use a long candle (something you dont mind getting cut in half) and stick it in the gap. BOOM, tire is seated, fill up with air. Like trying to put a rat trap on the floor after youve set it.
