Rebuild question??

first question, there is this screw-like thing. how do I remove it?
second, my new camm came with out the slotts like my old one has. do I need to go out and buy new slotts or can I use the old ones? if I can use the old ones, then how do I remove them? becouse they aren't coming out very easy.

The plug comes out with a socket wrench; rather than putting the male end into a socket it goes in the plug hole. Use and extension if you need to.
 
The keyway on the shaft should come right out by gently tapping it with a flat screwdriver and a small hammer. Yes you can reuse them if you need to.
 

sometimes some corrosion or scale get inside and make it hard to get the socket in, I usually try to clean it with a wire brush and see if it works, if it doesn't then I get a cheap-O parts store extension and lightly grind the four sides in very small increments till it fits nice and snug.

as for the keyways, a small brass drift should make short work of them.
 
Those are Woodruff keys. To get the keys out: Tap with a brass hammer (or brass punch) straight down on the very end of the key. The opposite end will pop up and then you can get under it and roll the key out of the slot. The keys are round (curved) on the bottom. -John
