Question about York compressors

Yes it does matter what side the discharge is on. If you do not want to run a new idler pulley on a YJ w/o a/c, the compress will be layed on it's side. In order for this to happen and the york to work properly, the Suction needs to be on the top. this would also be called a left discharge model.

As for the fitting, I got mine at a local napa. They had to get them shipped up from conn. or some thing but only took two days and cost $15 and some change. The part # is 202113 and come with new gaskets.

I Just happen to be at the Junk Yard today (looking for a pass side directional for a 88 omni) and saw a couple of Yorks. I Finally spotted a good 8.8 in a 97 explorer, but I didn't have any tools with me so I have to go back next week, I will see if I can find some more Yorks!!

As for fittings, and stuff. The cheapest hose I found is 3/8 fuel hose, and it will with-stand the pressure. I chose 3/8 copper lines, only $10 for 20ft at Lowes. A friend of mine works at a plumbing supply house and I got all my compression fittings, pressure guauge, check valve, and other random stuff for free. I got a Mini Air filter for the intake (suction side) and also a air dryer along with a fuel line at autozone for short cash (alot cheaper than OBA is) The only thing I had to get from kilby was the bracket (too damn cold to stay out side to make one) a 12 volt pressure switch, and a emergancy pressure release valve (in hind sight I thing ww grainger sells them.)

I haven't done this mod yet, but I believe that Lowe's has a Square D pressure switch as weel as all the fittings. You can also get a lot of air components and tools for cheap at Harbor Freight Tools or www.harborfreight.com
 
pressure switches are very common... i know of a few auto shops here that carry them... our ACE hardware sells them... in fact... that store has everything i need to build, aside from the compressor itself
 

looks like this got turned into a ABO questions thing...so....I was reading the install notes and writeup from Rockcrawler.com and they said that i'm going to need two pressure gagues one for system pressure and regulated pressure...ahhh..any help here? they don't really go into detail about it
 
Thats if you run a rerulator with your OBA set up. I have not included that into my set up, and don't see a need for it as long as the pressure switch turns on at 90 psi and off at 130 psi. I have one gauge on the tank to monotor the tanks pressure.

My local lowes had pressure switches, but none of them were 12 volt versions, the lowest was 110. Autozone was no help. But I will b#tch about autozone later.
 
yeah prolly just as good as pepboys..internet is the place for everything! hopfully my OBA will go well. waiting summer..and a way move my airbox or make a new one. i want to go wit ha snorkel soon..so i might just have to play around
 

No matter what voltage. Just make sure it has a pressure release for less compressor strain.
 
Pressure switch is not the same as a release valve. the release valve that I have will reduce pressure in the tank should it get above 140 psi's (in my case) the pressure switch is what measures the tanks pressure and activates the clutch when the tanks pressure is below90 psi and deactivates it when the tank pressure reaches 130 psi. I would not install a electrical compontent on my jeep that is designed for a home electrical use. Thats like using Romex to wire up you winch. and battery cables to install the washer and dryer. bad idea. Not saying it won't work.

My Romex works pretty good. I've got a bathroom light switch in the dash for the ignition and a squirrel cage shop fan for a supercharger.
