pro's and cons of 16" wheels

Well i have had hardly no luck finding some nice 15" wheels that i like and will meet my needs. I want a wheel that looks good, not alot of people have and if i do decide to go off road wont get beat up to bad.. In the 15's i have found the **** Cepek DC1, however everybody has this wheel, not sure i want it.. So my ? is, if i go to a 16, which will cost alittle more money, will i have any troubles, whats the downfall, If any.... thanks in advance

Also with all this in mind, which tires would you prefer?
1. Toyo M/T's
2. Nitto M/T's
3. Pro Comp Extreme M/T's

From what I've read, (Quite a bit) either the 16.5" or the 16" rims have a lower bead lip that allows aired down tires to loose the seal rather easily.

I run 15" rims now, but when I go to some D-60 axles I'ma get some 17" rims. These are like the 15' rims & have a better (taller) bead seal lip.

The main disadvantage with 16's is that the rims cost a little more, while the tires often cost a lot more.

thats 16.5" rim that does not have the safety bead.

a 16" rim is no different than a 15" rim other than size. IMHO, 17" rims is where the industry is heading. you will always have 15" tires available, but more and more new tire sizes are available for 17" rims only.

I'm a forum moderator on another truck board, at this point I tell people looking for 14" tires to forget about it and just get a set of 15" rims out of a junkyard.
My Sport Trac has 17's, which left me with a choice of about three tires in the stock size when I had to get new ones last month.
