As many of you also know, my father had come down with a terrible form of carpel tunnel, and no longer could use a mouse, thus ending his drafting career. He got in a financial bind as a result, and had to move in with me.
(And I know it was killing him to do so)
Of course, that meant I had to take on his bills and expenses, and help him with his debt. (which I was happy to do of course) But, it was putting my educational plans in jeapardy.
Well, today he just got hired on by a company that his brother works for, called Grumman, as a field service tech making 175K per year servicing equipment that the government uses for security purposes (ie anthrax detection, bioweapon detection) in gov't agencies.
Holy moly this is a huge break for us. Now, the money that was meant for my education instead of his debt can go entirely toward school and living. But most importantly, I know this will be good for my Dad's psyche and sense of self worth!!! I was getting worried about him.
Looks like I'll be giving that 2 week notice after all!!!
He and I were so happy, I just had to tell someone.
