i have a 80 cj5 with a 3 inch suspension lift and 35 inch tires.....i need more room in my fenders....any recomendations wold be great.....i want to trim them..but where to cut is the Question

Install TJ fender flares, they look great and allow for a lot more room over the tires.

I'm about to do this and asked for advice and tips on how to do the project well and no one had any advice: (

As bounty hunter suggested use tj flares, if your unsure how far to trim, trace the flare onto a sheet of carboard and make a template (also noteing mounting hole) use this template(s) to mark how far to cut on the side of the Jeep. For the cj5 that should work good for the rear...without compareing side to side I wonder if you might have to trim the front flares slightly to make them look right?

Looking at it, it seems i would be cutting right thru plastic linere also. Will that mess anything up?

I removed the plastic liner from the rear fenders. If you still want to deaden the noise, spray inside with a thick undercoating. I run TJ flares on my YJ.

Ok. Well my jeep sounds like a lawn mower already lol so I'm not worried about that. Just wanted to make sure it was ok to damage the plastic liner behind the metal before i started sawing away. Thanks guys
