I finally bought a Wrangler after years of wanting one. I bought a stock '03. I want to make some changes but have a very limited budget. Any suggestions for cheap modifications? Happy to join the group!

Congrats!!!! And welcome to the forum, fellow Tarheeler! If it's totally stock, I would recommend first getting some decent tires - however, that can be expensive. For "on a budget" upgrades, the best first would be recovery points......tow hooks front and back........so when you get stuck with those stock meats, someone can safely pull you out!!  I have a rear tow hook sittin' around - bolts to the frame on the rear...same place your bumper bolts. Let me know if you're interested.

Oh, and again, welcome to the "Z"!!!!!!!

Thanks for responding so quickly. It has the tow hooks on it already. I posted a few pics if that will give you any ideas of where I should start. I know what you are talking about with the tires I am working on that! I am new the NC are there any good places to take the jeep?

a cheap 2" bb will allow you to run 31s or 32s no problem. would allow for some good wheeling. and if you're not into wheeling, give you a more aggresive stance if that is what you're going for. 31s are extremely capable if driven correctly, trust me.

Thanks, I am looking into tires now. I am looking to get off road asap! What fun would it be without throwing around some mud! Also, looking into replacing soft top, what is a good way to go about that with a quality top that wont break the bank?

You should be able to run 31's with your stock suspension - no problems! Admittedly, I don't flex or stuff mine to the max anywhere I go (I gotta drive it everywhere - only vehicle I've got), but I've been through lots of rough stuff and have had no rubbing whatsoever.

Tires are a good start, what are you looking at?

Get yourself some good recovery straps (not the cheapie ones with metal hooks on them) and possibly a Hi-Lift Jack and a good shackle or two (some call them D rings but they are shackles  )
