bit the bullet and ordered a 100 amp alternator from summit and it came in like two days ! great right?? the damn thing is frozen up....yup..great black powder coated boat anchor.....:bomb::x...oh well...guess i could hang out with the wife for one weekend.......:lol:

sometimes they insert a lock pin to prevent it from spinning during shipping... Phoenix Gold does this with their alternators.

i looked an even called summit to see if that was the case, but they said they would send out a replacement that same day. good people to deal with. BUT i ended up putting down carpet for the wife instead of playing on the jeep LOL. not a fair trade ! better now with snow on the ground than later i guess

Seriously, as long as you can't jeep or work on it now, focus on browny points so you can work on it later.

ha ! scored mega brownies by laying two rooms of carpet , installing new muffler on her jeep and summit got the new alt here yesterday and 15 min later she's on the road again and has 50 more amps to boot now its supposed to rain for the next week.....................blaaaaaaaaaaaaa
