My brother has a 76 CJ-5 and he is looking for a decent winch with the fairlead already attached to the front. He is looking to pay around $350. Any ideas?

harbor freight?

i have no idea but i know there is not a lot of choices around that price

Are there any army surplus vehicle junkyards near you guys? Up near Chicago they have about 15 black hawks that we're retired and they striped their rescue winches for like 200 bucks. Not bad looking either. God I wish I would've gotten one.

Also eBay.

those blackhawks must've been really screwed up to strip out and part like that. it costs the army so much money to replace them that i cannot believe they didn;t send those to over haul

you sure they weren't hueys?

They were a mix of the choppers used my the coast guard and navy. Then there was one of this huge ones with two propellers and a mix of older helicopters. I don't know names too well sorry if I was wrong

the two propeller one is a ch47 (chinook) or ch46 (marine corps unit). the navy ones are sh60 seahawks and the coast guard uses a whole different helicopter that i don't know the designation on because i have never worked on one. its a sikorsky bird, i believe but i could be wrong

these are the normal helicopters

no problemo man. i thought it was funny they just scrapped them. the other services though handle that stuff differently then the army so that would explain stuff
