I have an 81 cj5, with a 4 cyl. and would like to put a fuel injected v6 in it.
I was going to go with the 4.3 ltr, cause of the strong motor, and fuel milage
but i not only need a new motor, i also need rebuilt trans, and rear end, so ive
decided if it will work, to find a wrecked new jeep sahara, with good frame, motor
trans, and etc. That way i will have a four wheel independant suspension, and i
believe i might save on money, and labor in the long run.
Does anyone know if this would work or not?
And if so what is there anything in particular i should look for, or what problems
might i run into?
This is my first jeep, i love it, but other then the great fuel milage, i get from the 4
banger, id like to have more horses under there so i could put a lift and bigger tires.

Welcome to the board of Jeepz.com uyou came to the right place. Between all of the jeep jockeys here their is about a million hands on experence. I can't help you very much but you can bet some one will be along sone to help you. I would fime me a 304 or some other typical Jeep engin from the period if I were going for more HP. Good Luck Tug[addsig]

independent suspension!?!?!?! and a cj5 is about 10 inches shorter that a TJ
find you a good 4.3 a t-18 transmission and a dana 44 axle put them in and you will be set! :-D [addsig]

Jeeper84 is right, the frame is a lil long for a CJ-5.
That way i will have a four wheel independant suspension
TJ's don't have independant suspension, and I hope no Jeep ever will.[addsig]

Yea i know the frame is to long, but the frame can be cut to make work
I was just wondering if there was any other complications i would run into.
and as far as the 4.0 liter, i know its not a 4.3, but ive never used the 4.0
but never heard anything bad about it either.[addsig]

We all have our hopes and dream projects...but with all due respect you're reaching a little far. If you REALLY want to pursue such a project i'd go for a cj7 frame...for the most part everything form a tj will fit onto this piece of metal...but still many many mods to be done. But a cj is about the same length...and the stock 4.2l was just about identical to the 4.0l...otherwise your cj5 is really only meant to be a cj5...can't expect miracles![addsig]

Thanks everyone for your reply, I think Ill go with my original plan and just
drop the 4.3 in it.
Thanx again, Just to let everyone know this is the best club ive found so
far for jeepers, all the other websites when i posted a message, would take
forever to get a reply, if they even did reply.[addsig]
