more power

Aside from the advice you get here (and you will), check out:

http://www.4bangerjp.com/

It's a site Bounty turned us on to and they're strictly 4bangers. Also, you might want to do a search here ('tho it can be cumbersome).......their's been tons of stuff posted already relating to what you want.

Cheap tricks? I think putting a TB spacer on a factory engine is the cheapest trick people usually fall for.

A good header is the first performance mod that should be done on almost any engine. Performance camshaft, roller rockers, work the cylinder head for a little more compression and flow, install an electric fan, aftermarket computer chip or program, free flowing air intake, free flowing exhaust, is the gearing right to take advantage of the engines power curves?, remove weight from the Jeep, bigger throttle body, TB spacer......lots of stuff.

I don't know, Junk......I just did a search there on "dyno numbers" and got no hits........go figure. My personal dyno is my foot on the skinny pedal and my hands on the wheel/shifter........that's pretty much how I judge any performance increases/decreases I get from my feeble mod attempts (no many to speak of). But you raise a good point. I just thought he might get some extra input over there.

Re: RE: lockers on a YJ

I wasn't trying to be smart*ss or anything, I just figured a forum that specializes in four banger mods would have some dyno numbers......or at least I was hoping they would.

I hear ya'.....no smart*ss detected here..............like I said, you raise a good point. Perhaps we need to bring that to Bounty's attention!!

BTW - I'm a jeepz'er all the way. ya just can't get too much info.

bang for the buck.... i say go with intake/exhaust/4.0TB... and go with an electric fan... i think you'll be happy

RE: AMC V-8 Dist Drive Gear

Of all the crap I did to my old 4 banger the electric fan was most noticeable. Kind of sad really that a belt driven fan makes a noticeable difference but it's true. Don't get me wrong I loved my 4 popper and I was very pleased with it's performance/mileage with 32" tires and stock gears. Anyone here on Jeepz will tell you how I whine about it being gone from time to time
