lift install

I installed a 4" rough country lift, and booms, the front shackles seem to lean in a little. The rear are fine, I know an alignment will fix the steering wheel( it is off 90 degrees) Will alignment straighten slight pitch on shackles or do I have another problem?

I gonna say that where they "lean", is where they'z gonna "lean". That's going to be the natural angle for them from here on out. I do wonder why they are leaning in though. I've got the same kit pretty much (from Rough Country, bommerangs and all <front>) and mine "lean" out a little about 10-15 degress I'd say. If yours are leaning in, something might have went wacky. Did you install them with the "V" pionting towards the center of the vehicle??

The v is toward the center, and looking at them this morning, they do have a 10 to 15 degree outward angle. It just stuck me as odd because the rear is pretty much straight up and down.

from what you are saying it sounds like the same thing i have on mine. The problem is that the front track bar is not long enough and pulls everything off center. you can either get remounting brackets, adjustable trackbar, or the expensive telescoping trackbar. But from what i have read from other yj owners the best thing is just to remove it, there is really no use in having them(front and rear) remove them see how you like it, if you don't like it go with one of the above options or if you dont mind the feel it should fix your shackle shift and you can also enjoy the new found articulation in your axles.

Jackbotz...did you get the rear track bar "extension" bracket that R.C. sent you? Did you install it? If you didn't get one, I've got on you can have (I took my rear track bar off years ago). If it's the front giving you problems, buy the quick-disconnects from them, they have PLENTY of adjustment. Later

Much ado about track bars, what function do they perform? A stablizer?

i cant think of another leaf sprung car that uses a track bar, maybe im just ignorant. The only times ive heard of people needing one is when they use a SOA lift. It's really just a personal preference IMO

trac bars just laterally locate your axle. a key component in a coil sprung rig, in a leaf sprung vehicle its kinda redundant IMO. alot of guys remove them along with the sway bar with no ill effects. my trac bars have done a great job keeping the trash can weighted down in my garage .

I removed my rear one about 4 years ago, and to be honest, I cannot even tell it's not there. I bought a JKS telescopic front trackbar, but to be honest, if I had to do it again I would just remove the thing. I WOULD keep the swaybars, though. I have discos in mine, and that I CAN feel the difference.
