I know that the K&N FIPK kits are supposed to boost horsepower, but do they help gas mileage at all? For that matter, would a performance exhaust help my mpg either?
i have both a K&N fipk and a performance (flowmaster) exhaust on my jeep. i didn't really observe any notable improvements in gas mileage with either one... although any improvements may have been masked with other aftermarket products that were installed at nearly the same time (oversize tires/wheels, bullbar/winch, etc.). i would still recommend getting both if you have the money though. actually... i would probably go with an air kit from rusty's... they're a lot cheaper and seem just as good. or you could always fab your own
Gotta agree with mujaman....I didn't really notice any improvement in performance, but I do really love the sound!!! There are so many more factors involved in gas mileage that the minute (minoot) improvements you might see with the K&N will most likely be offset by some other minor glitch in the system. It is nice to have an infinitely re-usable filter, however.
