The story goes like this, I drive back home from work in 2wd park it for the night in my driveway. The next day I get up to go, i start the jeep and put it in revers it will not move until I hit 2500-3000 rpm and only the back tires spin. Then I try drive the same thing happens. I also tried putting putting it in 4h but the lever will not move. What do i do? Any and all suggestion will be appreciated.

Put salt or sand under the tires. Your sitting on ice. ;-P

What temp was it last night? My jeep jumps out of gear until warmed up due to the oil thickening from the cold.

there is no ice under the tires and i warmed up my jeep to running temp.

automatic or standard? Temp over night? Start with lifting the front end up and seeing of the tires move. not sure if we are dealing with a locked up front end due to cold or a transmission problem.

I don't think he is trying to use 4x4. He drove it last in 2wd and now the thing wont move unless he hits 2500-3000 rpms, 4x4 lever wont move either.
Is this a automatic or standard trans? if standard does it shift to different gears smoothly with the engine running. Maybe the clutch or slave cyl went out? Any noises?

Hey I was kidding about the ice. Has the trans been serviced and fluid changed?
Two things to check. The speed sensor cable moves freely.
Also the Throttle Position Sensor connections. Have you had issues that while depressing the pedal farther the RPMs stay the same?

its an automatic and there is no problem with the pedal and after i release it the rpms drop to idle rpms, no weird sounds amd over night temp is about 30*-35*

ruh roh, with an automatic trans and the transfer case in 2hi, you should be able to turn your front drive shaft and wheels while there in the air. that tells me something in the transfer case is sticking... If the tires dont turn, disconnect the drive line and see if the tires turn. No turn, front end. I heard stories that said the brakes froze to the rotors, and some said because the hydroscopic nature of brake fluid absorbing water from the air....but if that is the case you shouldn't be able to turn the tires at all. I guess you need to find out if its the transfer case or your front end and we can go from there.

Tcase dumped or is the vacuum front axle messed up? Undo one end of the front drive shaft to see which way either end moves.
