Jeep Trailers

I started my jeep trailer build. Like the H.F. Trailer I went with the Amor Rex. I felt this was a better trailer. First stage was trailer, diamond plate floor and steel box. Next stage is a wider axle, 15" rims and taller tires.

I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a Harbor Freight folding trailer - the only problem is that I've got really limited storage space.

Did you bolt or weld it together?

I here you on the space. My stable includes Dodge Ram, 2 cars, Jeep TJ, boat, tent trailer and a car hauler,; and now the little trailer. It's the insurance and DMV that kills me.
I bolted it all together for now. All 3/8 x 1" carriage bolts and nylon washers. The box had 30 bolts itself. It's rock solid. I'm planning on using it for trips to the beach and camping. With the wife, my 15 yr old and the dog there's no room for gear.
Here's the finished project. I did order a wider axle for 15" rims and bigger tires.

 trailer porn.

I'm so jealous. I stood in Harbor Freight for about an hour before I finally fessed up that I don't have anywhere to store a trailer.

Next step is to mount the cooler up front. I might have to extend the trailer tongue a foot, if I want to turn. Still waiting for deliver of the cooler. Why such an extreme cooler, able to retain ice 7 to 10 days. Long story, but a friend took care of me, FREE!

The trailer is just about done for now. Extended and raised the hitch with 18" square stock, receiver stock. I'm able to switch between the ball coupler or 3-axis hitch for the trails. A neighbor donated a bed frame for the cooler rack. Cheap steel! Using a Makita chop saw and a 14" cut off wheel I cut all kinds of things. Just take your time. Next project will be a hard cover, aluminum or wood not sure. I think it turned out just fine..

Man that's a nice trailer.

Is there a name for the prop that holds it up? I've only ever seen the little wheel that can bee cranked up or down, but yours looks pretty stable, especially for a small trailer like that.

Would fit on a standard trailer tongue with a few holes drilled. I didn't think I needed the wheel. At least not yet.

Here's a couple pictures after a few more updates. Going to extend the tongue and work on a hard top.

Nice....Good size for camping.

Have you had any issues with the bolts loosening from travel?

Looks sharp.

No problems with the bolts yet. I did use nylon lock nuts on 99% of the trailer.
