Jeep exploded view?

I have an 84 CJ7 with a 400 SBC in it. The trouble is, the P/O COMPLETELY DISSASSEMBLED the thing, lost interest, and I bought it. Now, I'm no Jeep guy, but I am a car guy, and have begun re-assembling the thing. Trouble is, I have pieces, brackets, trim, hardware, etc... that I have no idea where they go without a lot of trial and error, which i would like to avoid. Is there some web site or other resource someone could recommend to help a newbie out? I bought Moses Ludell's book "Jeep rebuilding", but it's mainly powertrain stuff. Just some CJ7 pics would help... Thanks,, Jim

Welcome to Jeepz.com racerjim.

I don't know of a complete Jeep exploded view, but if you can take photos of some of your parts then I'm sure we could id them.

Yes....pics are good. How far along is the Heap?? If it's down to "this and that" we can help. If it's the whole sha-bang (sp??????), then I would get a Chiltons and Haynes manual to give you a broad picture of what you're dealin' with.

Number the pics. as you post them so we can identify them by number with a description and where it goes.

It's not going to be an exhaustive illustrated parts breakdown but at least somewhat of an exploded view is the "Replacement Parts" sections of the Quadratec and 4WD.com (4Wheel Drive Hardware) catalogs. You can go online and see what I'm talking about then order their catalogs for a larger hard copy.

Also, you might check out Jeep® Service Manuals - AUTO BOOKS. They specialize in Jeep manual reprints from 1974-1988.

I also know there are some Factory Service Manuals available for download. Dont know about the CJ, but I downloaded the one for my YJ a while back...
