jeep engine swaps

My brother is looking to buy a good cj-7, 8 or yj but all we are finding are ones with the 4-cyl engines. Is there any easy engine swap for any of these models. I think the 258 will bolt to the transmission in the cjs. And I don't think the 4.0 will bolt up in the yjs but I'm not sure. I'm not concerned about motor mount info or anything else, I just want to know if there are any swaps that don't require an adapter to do.

The 4.0L motor is a YJ motor(242ci). The 4.2L (258ci) came in the CJ series. There may be issues with trying to mount it in a YJ, I don't anymore. You can contact Advanced Adapters for info. (sorry I don't have a number handy. (at work)

not to contradict you but technically the 4.2 was both a cj and a yj engine, along with other jeep models( ie. xj etc.). I have a 1989 YJ with the 4.2. I believe 1990 was the first year of the 4.0.
