Isnt jeep concern but i want to get my opinion out!

Where do kids these days get the money to do all this stuff to their ricers anyway? I've had to struggle for every dollar, working since I was 16 and still can't afford everything I would like for my Jeep. Yet, I see 16 and 17 year old kids that have a tricked out $30,000 Acura with $15,000 more in accessories. Believe me, if they can afford that, they can afford coke, crack or whatever. I just hope they are obtaining it the legal way and that goes for anyone, not just ricers.

As far as the motorcycle discussion goes...I would like to someday own a Harley because that's my style. Laid back, cruisin down the interstate with a bunch of friends. Harleys were not built to race Honda CBR's and vice-versa. Putting them in the same category is ridiculous. But I'm not against anyone who would want to own a Katana or Ninja or whatever because that's their style. Just don't pull up next to me and my Harley and rev up the engine like you want to race and prove that your bike is faster, we all know already it is, and I'm not going to race you.

All in all, it's different strokes for different folks. But there's a mature way about it and an immature way about it. Personally, I can't stand the Civics with the coffee can muffler and 4 ft. wing on the back, but I tolerate it. Probably just as much as they tolerate sitting behind me at a red light, with nothing to stare at but a bumper and breathing my exhaust fumes.

If you can't tell, Motorcycles are my other hobby! I don't care what it is, as long as it has two wheels!

On that harley/rocket thing, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE a harley. One of the guys I ride with has a 03 electra glide (one of the huge full dressed bikes with Radio and a lazy boy recliner on the back) He race a 2000 cbr F4 (pretty fast bike) and beat it. He also does wheelies on that thing! If you build a harley, like anything, they will go! Vrods are also pretty fast right out of the box too.

I will have another Harley in a couple of years when "being a punk kid doing wheelies" gets old.

I agree with JPS4Jeep, better they should be spending there money on there rides, than brain candy.
My oppinion is whatever toots your whistle, but that doesn´t stop me from crindging on occasion, when I see some overdone or near (or wide miss) on cool.
Came nose to nose with a ricer full, of wanna be gangsters, narrow street, only room for one car. I´m a hundred yards, down the way, they're about 25 yards into the bottle neck. They stop in front of me and rev the sewing machine motor, give me the bad eye and say move it, &%§? Grandpa, I was a few houses away from, where I had to drop off, some papers, walked over, put them in the mail box. Mentioned to the guy, I was gonna put it in four wheel, low range and drive right over his car, him and his friends, hope he had hard shell turtle wax on there. Had a pretty good motor in there, drove almost 30 MPH in reverse, with me, a foot off his front bumper. Then he made his second big mistake, got out of his car and came walking over, told my dog it was lunch time, he got back in the car almost as fast, as he could drive in reverse. I guess, if he was smart, he´d own a Jeep. I guess they figure if they drive the lowered ricer, they got to play the image. My image is bad ass, grandpa. We don´t usually mix well.
The Harley drivers have been saying, if your not Harley, your not, forever (snob appeal). Havn´t owned a Harley since 64, sold my Indian. Been driving ricers ever since. Japs, Germans, Italians and somewhat Brits, just seem to do bikes better, and without the holier than thou attitude, that goes with the Harley. Had a buddy with a Motto Guzzi, that sounded just like a Harley, was faster and more reliable, than the older models of Harley. Got another buddy with a restored Arial square four, now that´s class.

HEY TUG... I Beg to differ. You say the youth is wasted away...WRONG!!! Just those kids that dont ahve the balls to stick up for themselves...I beat some blonde in an eclipse w/ one of those girlie gurl racing stickers that thinks it gives her 100 hp...when will they learn??

Only 21 and have owned a bit of everything: "classic" '71 VW bug, "ricer" '91 Eagle Talon, "muscle" '94 Stang GT, and now my '91 YJ beast. Which car I prefer all depends on the time of day, ammount of traffic, and availability of dirt roads and wilderness. ... wait - I take that back.. the bug was slow and not off-roadable :x . But like I said - it's all in the environment and time of day!

more info

actually, bugs were quite offroadable for a car... they made great rally cars because of the rear engine design....

on to the thread topic... first, i must say that i love topics like this... when everone has a different opinion on things... i like disagreement... it shows that we are not all the same person, and live individual lives....

ricers... nope, don't like them... import or domestic... but, simply because i don't like them, doesn't mean i can't respect what people CAN do with them... yea, i think it is very retarded to put stickers all over them, toss on rediculous looking body kits, put a bunk bed on the back, and make it sound like every other ugly toy that looks just like it... for the most part, any REASONABLY AFFORDABLE 4 cylinder car is NOT quick... and by putting $500 in "performance parts" by adding a "cold air intake" (which most of the time is not a CAI, and is simply a cone filter which draws warm air from the engine bay) and some rediculous sounding cat back exhaust system.... BUT... i will give respect to any rice-mechanic who puts his OWN hands in on his OWN engine work so that HE can EARN the right to talk about his car being superior in performance to others.... i can respect the guys who mated their B18 and B16 to build their engine because they DO understand the concept of torque.
i don't have anything against rice people... only the things they do

rocket/harley..... yeah... for the most part, a rocket will beat a harley in a race.... but.... if you are riding a crotch rocket, and you pull up to a harley at a light, chances are that harley rider has no remote intention to even think about racing... they are cruise bikes.... yeah, they CAN move... but that is not what a harley rider has in mind... it is the enjoyment of sitting back on the bike and being at ease... not leaning forward laying on top of a gas tank going 160 mph... of course the thrill is good... but i'm not really the biggest fan of speed...

though it is fun to build speed

To me, Jap bikes are uncomfortable suicide machines, and ricers... are fartin' muffler havin' butt ugly mom cars with stickers and wings. That's not to put anybody down, just how I feel (and I will make my opinion known while it is still legal to do so!).
Jeeps and harleys and old Goats are the rides that get my heart pumpin', but the asians have captured our kids attention with everything from pokemon to honda. One can only hope that as they age their tastes will change. I'm starting mine out as Jeepers, but someday you gotta let go of that hand and just hope you've done your job well
