iPhone, iPod or iPad?

I don't have an iPhone, but most of the guys at work do. There aren't too many downsides to a jailbroken phone, but for most people there aren't that many advantages either. The primary reason to jailbreak your iPhone is to run unofficial apps. Not really illegal apps, just things that Apple won't allow in the app store for one reason or another.

A big reason around the guys at the office do it is so that they can tether other devices to the iPhone. This means that you can get internet access for your laptop though your iPhone without paying anything extra. Apple / ATT charges for this if you aren't jailbroken.

Sweet!!!

I used to be jail broken but I crashed. Lost everything .

I have heard about tethering though.

Thanks guys any more info will be appreciated as I probably can't afford the monthly bill that comes with iPhone, but def will be interested to hear more.

if you live in a really major area. not every where is 4g

i can back up my iphones/ipods.

i unlocked and jailbroke my stuff so i could get other free games and apps to screw around with and it lets me run my iphone3 on tmobile, which is about 15 bucks a month cheaper then at&t is (and i have the gov discount on the at&t account but not on the tmobile account) the sims cards are the same on the iphones until you get to the iphone4 and probably 5. they changed to a different one, probably to combat people jail breaking them and using them on tmobile

yea. if it's an electronic device it can be hacked. honestly I'd wait until the iPhone 5 comes out or get an android based phone. if you're thinking about a 4g phone make sure you get coverage in your area.
