installing one piece axels

Trouble Signing in

How does my new one piece axels stay in? Does it stay with that little spacer.I did the driver side and it came out ok.But the passenger gave me some trouble.I didn't install that little thick washer looking thing that also needs to be pressed on to the axel.i just did the bearing.Is that why my axel is now sticking outside and ready to fall out

I would think that if you left a piece out that may be your problem. Granted I know sometimes one side of a repair may go smoothly and the other not, you still have to get it done right. I would redo the pass side the same way you did the drivers and see if that helps out at all...

mildew smell coming out of the heater and water seepage

Did you have the two piece, AMC 20 rear? If so that "thick washer lookin thing" is the bearing retainer, it helps keep the pressed on bearing in place, yea you need that. Also, there is the seal/retainer plate that goes on the outside of the backing plate. This is what holds everything in place.

thanks joey,I just orderd my new parts and will install them all.I was surprised that,that was all that held the axel in place
