I want to make a customer air intake, need ALOT of help

I have a 1995 YJ, 2.5L 4 banger. Has anyone made one before? I was thinking just a piece of 3" exhaust pipe, to connect the air filter to. Then cut the rubber hose that goes to the air filter box and fit that over the pipe. Then screw in 2 couplings to attach the extra hoses to. Sound possible that way? [addsig]

Thtat will work fine... there's no need to cut that rubber hose, just use the entire length

Sounds like a good plan to me...I made mine out of a couple pvc elbows...clamped the rubber hose to one end of em...and the filter to the other....works great...oh yeah for the two hoses I just drilled 2 holes in the elbows and put them in and put silicon around them to seal.[addsig]

I wanted to do PVC, but can find any 3" OD PVC. All the 3" pipe has too big of an OD. The filter I have has a 3" opening.[addsig]

it took some shaving, some lube, and a few 4 letter words, and a lot of force... but i got my 3" ID pvc into the filter... and I simply put the stock rubber hose inside the pvc and use a little pvc cement... just enough in a couple areas to hold it there. as for the other hoses... I put a valve breather filter on the valve breather... and whatever that other one is... I just tossed another filter over that hose. best of wishes

i made mine from a honda civic intake non v tec i got it at advance auto parts for 55.00 dollars and cut the 90 degree elbow off of the stock tube jamed it in the 3 inch aluminum pipe silconed it up and was done with it came with the hose already and the inlet to put it in then i bought the miny filter for 7.00 and put on my pvc from on my valve cover. the one for the honda came with a filter and everything ready to go even the rubber sleave to go around the pipe and the elbow[addsig]

That sounds like agood plan. You can also order an airtube AND conical K&N filter from www.rustysoffroad.com for about $50 or $60, not bad considering the filter is at least $35. It was worth it for me, not enough time to mess with homemade.[addsig]

It's "finished". I used a 3" plastic drain and cut out the drain grill. Then I put a 2" pipe adapter in it to match up to the rubber hose. I found a great bracket to mount the filter to keep it from moving. I still have to get things tightened down. BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I think I'm going to mount a 50 cal ammo can where the box was and use it to store jumper cables.[addsig]
