Driving down the road at 55 and out of know where the mph on the dash drops to 45 then back to 55. Anyone know whats going on

How long does it drop for? or is it bouncing back and forth?

Year and model?? You will get a better answer. Otherwise it may be a cause for another model.

It could be the speedo gear isn't engaged properly.

It could be a bad cable.

It could be s bad contact.
