I Got Such a Headache....

Don't know why. Tuesday night I went to a meeting with my boss and the homeowners association of one of the properties I manage. After the meeting, we were eating dinner and one of the other managers called and said his truck had broken down. We called the mechanic and arranged for him to meet me at the shop early the next morning to go out and pick up the truck. We were about a mile away from where the truck had broken down, driving down a dirt road when we blew a tire. We skidded off the road and slammed a culvert at about 60mph, went airborne for about 100 feet, flipped several times and landed upside down in a creek. Scotty, the mechanic, wasn't wearing a seatbelt but I was. He ended up next to the back window under water and unconscious. I couldn't get my seatbelt undone because of the weight of my body against the release. Finally got it undone, dropped on my head, and managed to pull Scotty out of the truck and to the bank of the creek. By then he'd woken up somewhat, but was still pretty confused. I shook all the water out of my cell phone and called 911 (couldn't believe it even worked!!) and had a heckuva time telling them where we were. Scotty refused to go to the hospital, despite being unconscious for about 5 minutes under water. I don't know how he kept from drowning! I refused also, because I just really didn't hurt anywhere except from dropping myself on my head when I undid the seat belt. Here's a couple of pics of the truck:

Pretty well messed up the toe-in, didn't it? After filling out all the accident reports, I went ahead and worked yesterday. Just had to change my clothes (working in mud all day, I've learned to keep an extra change of clothes handy). Scotty took the day off to rest up. I still haven't told Sunshine, because I don't want her to get hysterical. She's got enough to worry about right now with some other issues. I just told her I had to wallow in the mud to fix some irrigation lines to explain away the extra set of muddy clothes. I might tell her much later on, but don't know yet.

 What a mess! Looks like the 'Big Boss' was lookin' after you that day. Glad you are still here to tell us about it.

Glad you're ok.

I think the truck will be as good as new with a little work. Just needs a little wash, wax, air in the tires and you should be good to go.

Man....I rolled a truck about 15 years ago and wasn't this stiff and sore afterwards, and I wasn't wearing a seatbelt then. I did see my doc on Thursday, and everything is where it should be according to xrays.

Geez, Sparky... glad to hear you're ok! That had to be one heck-of-a ride  Man, that's just insane... How's Scotty feeling?

He wasn't at work yesterday, but I think Friday is his normal day off, or at least was through the winter months. I guess some of the guys went out yesterday and tried to find all his tools in the creek....don't know how much luck they had because it rained Thursday. Pretty much all of his tools were scattered for about 100 yds down the ditch and out into a field, probably close to $10,000 worth altogether.

Wow, glad to hear injuries were not too serious. I imagine you guys are hurtin' though.

That really stinks he lost his tools.

Back in the late 80's when I rolled a truck (the one that broke my neck and led to all my neck and shoulder problems now) I don't remember being this sore, but I was much younger and had plenty of chemical assistance.
