How to dispose of used parts?

I just did some upgrades on my wife's pilot, and I've got some heavy metal take off parts - rotors, control arms, etc.

What's the best way to dispose of this stuff? Are things like used rotors recyclable, or does this stuff normally go into the landfill?

Recycle!! All metal is recyclable. If you want to take the parts to the scrap yard yourself you might get a few bucks

There's likely a metal recycler in your area where you can make a dollar or two, sometimes even enough to cover your fuel.

Save your self some time and call them first, not all metal recyclers take auto parts. Thank you for doing the right thing with your old parts, in my neck of the woods, half the people just dump in the desert!

Recycle. There is likey a metal scrap yard somewhere near by. The nearest transfer station or landfill may have a metals diversion station too.

It turns out there was a metal recycler on my way to work. I stopped by this morning and dropped off 4 rotors, and two Honda Pilot control arms. They gave me $4.65 for it. I was pretty surprised that I got that much money for such a small amount of metal.

a few years back I got 600 for a 95 ford Taurus with a blown engine from the local auto recycler, last year, only 350 for a 98 GC Laredo, due to differences in scrap metal prices, When I found out how little the GC would bring in I stripped the front seats out, the electric window and door lock assemblies the almost brand new cat back exhaust and the alloy wheels to refinish and put on junk rims and tires. I also pulled all the lights and speakers. Ive alreadyused about 400bucks in retail, in parts from what I pulled off it. I also made a wooden base for the seats, that holds a cooler between them for on the front porch. Redneck be damned Nobody else in the neighborhood has an "800 dollar" full reclining porch seat complete with a beer cooler for those hot summer nights!
The big point is that steel is a big dollar industry since the EPA has shut down so many mines in the US.
