If you have scoring you probably will want to bring it to a shop and get it honed with a rigid hone or at least have them look at it. The drill powered springy hones are really intended as glaze breakers. I'm not sure about the grit but the result you are looking for is basically intentional scratches so your grit may work fine. Mine has pretty rough stones on it, like a smooth grinding wheel. I've used Mystery oil to hone (glaze-break) several engines. I bet this was NOT the right oil to use but it worked fine. Be sure to clean the bores really well when done (give them the clean white cloth test). -John
