I have been looking longingly at Jeeps all my life. Wife was always too practical to agree. Now that my first born is driving we convinced her a Wrangler was a great first vehicle. I'm not one to think of something cool to do but you bet when I see something done I like, I will be attempting to duplicate. Already assembling components to prepare the stepchild for off-roading. I'm sure I will be asking questions but plenty to read thru for now.

Welcome!
Mod? you mean actually make changes to a perfectly designed and manufactured product:rolleyes:
Me thinks get it past some maintainence and sprucing up first, There is some rust on the floor that needs sealed and the carpet will be replaced with Herculiner. The fender flares are faded and some rusty hinges to clean up or replace. Looking for a reasonable hard top for the winter also. Beyond that it is basically my son's and he can do what he pleases (or what I can talk him into). Me I just want to drive with the top off before winter catches us. It wont be far from you soon, he starts fall term at Mercyhurst NE in September.

C'mon now, every Jeeper in the world gotta have lower gears and bigger tires . . . Of coarse the suspension lift keeps the bigger tires from rubbing and then, HORSEPOWER, ain't a self respectin Jeeper alive that'll tell ya they got enough gages and horsepower!!

welcome to the Z

Horsepower is strategically low as this is a first vehicle and an 18 year old with a performance package will spend all the spare change on insurance. He has his "dream car" and can work up to the goodies. Hmmm, maybe I can convince the wife that upgrades for good grades is a viable option :D

My first was a 65 Willy, but my parents had nothing to do with that!!

Wrangler, I like your "upgrades for good grades" program...you do realize you are creating a monster rite?
Does your son stay on campus, or will he be traveling home everyday?
That can be a treaterous ride in the winter months, even in a Jeep!

He will be commuting, and I know that stretch of road well, hence the Jeep. If it looks too bad we have a 4WD Suburban. Even if he stayed on campus he would be coming back here for work anyways.
