My question is that when I start up my 04 Rubi, there is a loud squeaking high pitch noise and it gets louder when I accelerate and when I push the clutch in it stops, so I thought and even with the clutch in, I gave it gas and it started up again....It sounds like it's coming from the engine, but I can't locate it.....I know this is a long shot, but has anyone ever had this problem.

From what you've described it is likely a loose or worn serpentine belt. That's a cheap, simple, do-it-yourself fix.

I thought that might be it, but it sounds like 2 metal objects rubbing together and making such a high pitch noise...I'm thinking different.

My alternator screamed at me as it was dying but you'd notice the other affects that come with that...

Well, I went out and checked the belt and one of the rollers that it rides on has some black build up and scratches off, but that might be the problem....is that the sign of the belt breaking down.

Check if it only happens with the AC compressor clutch engaged. (Keep in mind the defroster runs the compressor.) Sounds like what my 00 XJ was doing.

Sounds very much to me like the fan belt. Mine does the same thing, and my old jeep would do the goat scream and I replaced it and it would sound fine. Now my new cherokee is doing the same thing and its the belt. 20 dollars and 5 minutes will fix that problem.

Well, I replaced the fan belt and problem solved....thanks for all the advise....I love this forum, it has helped me in more ways than one.

I kind of though since yours was so new then it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

The only thing I could think of would be a belt unless you've got bad bearings somewhere (alternator, etc.) ?
